Releasing the Past, Restoring Your Future
You’re tired of feeling anxious, stuck, or weighed down by past experiences. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and felt like the therapist didn’t quite “get” you. You’re looking for real relief from painful memories, practical skills for daily life, and a therapist who is authentic, down-to-earth, and able to sit with humor, honesty, and hard topics without judgment. Here, you can expect a space that feels grounded and genuine, where you don’t have to perform or filter yourself to be understood.
I provide counseling and EMDR therapy in Brookings, South Dakota, offering in-person sessions and telehealth appointments throughout the state. As a person-centered therapist, I integrate evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR, EMDR 2.0, advanced Flash Technique, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These approaches help clients process difficult experiences, develop practical coping skills, and work with emotions, bodily sensations, and memories, with a strong emphasis on stability, choice, and nervous system regulation.
I’ve often been told that I’m not your “typical” therapist — think genuine conversation and transparency, combined with evidence-based skills that work. I believe change is possible, therapy should feel human, and every client should feel heard.
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people process distressing memories and experiences that continue to affect their emotional well-being.
Rather than relying solely on talking through difficult experiences, EMDR uses structured processing and bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or alternating sounds, to help the brain reprocess distressing memories.
EMDR is particularly well established as a treatment for PTSD and trauma-related symptoms and may also be helpful for some difficulties involving anxiety, negative beliefs, and painful past experiences.
At Stillpoint, EMDR therapy is tailored to your individual needs, with careful attention to preparation, emotional safety, and your readiness to process difficult material.
If you’re ready for support that’s honest, compassionate, and empowering, I’d love to work with you on your journey.
